Orbital HD(review)

Orbital HD(review)

iPad Apps - Orbital HD Like the original Orbital, the Orbital HD iPad app is a simple yet addicting game that never lets up on its frenetic pace. The premise is familiar: you operate a fixed cannon positioned at the bottom of the screen from which you fire projectiles. However, from there, Orbital diverges from anything else you’ve played. You see, you’re not shooting down enemy fliers, but rather focusing on bubbles of various sizes. You create these bubbles when a projectile bumps a bubble or the wall. Each of these bubbles has a number inside, and that number is an indication of how many times a projectile must bump it before it dissipates, creating room for another bubble.

The result of this craziness is a theoretically never-ending Tetris-like experience where you are trying to remove bubbles from the screen fast enough to keep it from overloading. What helps to make the game so exciting is the high-energy music and sound effects that set the pace. The game also boasts three distinct modes: Pure (default), Gravity and Supernova. The cool thing is that each mode changes the physics so much that it feels like a completely different game. An awesome old school game that’ll leave you playing frantically for hours at a time.
