Opera Mini 5.1 Java has been released with memory improvements for low memory and low screen resolution phones. It now features a new skin for low memory and low resolution phones.
If you have used the previous Opera Mini 5, you might have experienced the low memory problems. For example, you are browsing a page and suddenly it gets cleared due to low memory. The "Out of Memory" error is very common for low memory phones. But this version is supposed to solve the problems.
If your phone's screen resolution is less than 200 pixels in any direction, or your java heap memory is less than 4mb, then Opera Mini will automatically switch to a new skin specially designed for low memory phones. The new skin has text menus without those large icons and the speed dial style is like that in the Opera Mini 4.2 in stead of visual speed dials like in Opera.
The update is not necessary for high end smart phones and blackberry phones. But if you use a low memory s40 phone, the update is must to give you a much smoother browsing experience.
