Google recently unveiled the preview version of its cloud operating system, Chrome OS, which is scheduled to be available summer 2011. But those who want to get their hands on the operating system early will have to be one of the 60,000 users invited to receive the new Cr-48 notebook.
The Cr-48 notebook will be strictly used to beta test Google's new operating system. The notebooks will be given only to qualified users, including businesses, schools and developers.
Chrome OS is a cloud based OS designed for people who spend most of the time on the web. Chrome OS runs web-based applications, such as Google Docs and Gmail. So it is not for people who use PC Softwares rather than web based apps.
According to Google, Acer and Samsung are planning to release Chrome OS-powered notebooks in the first half of 2011
