Computer security and safety is a real concern for anyone on the Internet today. Being aware of any type of dangerous virus or software that could harm your computer is something that we should all be on the lookout for. There is a new Trojan or virus that is on the web today that we should be looking out for.
What is it
A new Trojan virus that has been made available through the Internet for unsuspecting users is a Trojan that will display a “fake” or bogus activation message for your Windows. This fake activation message for Windows will ask users to call an international number that will unlock your system. The caller will call the phone number provided for an international number and put on hold. After the caller is put on hold, they are charged for the phone call and an unlock code is not provided.
Any Trojan is extremely dangerous for your computer. This one is a double whammy for computer users. Not only will your computer system be violated by this Trojan advising you that you need to unlock your Windows operating system, but the phone number provide to call to unlock your system is an international number that is not toll free. This means the users are paying with the compromise of their computer systems and paying for the phone call to this bogus phone number.
What to do
Similar viruses have been identified as making their way across the Internet and all computer users should be aware of the fact that we are all vulnerable to this type of attack.

Do not open any suspicious emails you may receive in your mailbox. Many of the phishing scams and other viruses are transmitted using the email system.
Be proactive and make certain that if you do have any issues with viruses you contact Windows and other authorities on the web and spread the word. Give others a heads up about these types of attacks so they can be on the lookout and protect themselves against viruses and any would be hackers whose sole intent is to damage or hurt others on the web.
