Is This is end of Facebook? Google launches Google+ a new smart social network

Google+Google launch Google+

Google are competing for ‘social’ world domination again! They are ever hopeful they can topple the mighty Facebook with the launch of their new social media platform, Google+. This may very well be the time for Google to strike as there have been reports of millions deleting their Facebook accounts due to a phenomenon becoming widely known as ‘Facebook fatigue’. Google are confident that their new platform will make the experience of sharing online more like it is in real life.
Ok so how does Google+ work? There is a feature which is very similar to the home feed that Facebook currently uses which is known as the ‘stream’. This displays all your usual features such as photos, locations and links from your friends but wait, there’s more!
Circles: Up until now it has been very difficult to differentiate between specific groups of people you are able to share your information with while using a platform such as Facebook. How many horror stories have we heard about the boss seeing a picture of an employee at the pub while off ‘sick’ from work, or the growing number of teachers fired due to their holiday pictures being discovered by pupils. Google say that it is just not like this in the real world, people are easily able to choose the groups with whom they share specific information with. The ‘Circles’ function allows you to literally group your contacts into individual circles so it is easy to share you information with the right people.
Instant Upload: With the phenomenal rise in mobile and ‘smart’ phone usage it came as no surprise that Google are introducing this function. Instant upload allows the user to automatically upload pictures taken on their device to their Google+ account without the hassel of constantly having to download and upload pictures manually. Google keeps your pictures private by default and gives you the option of which groups to share with, if any at all.
Sparks: Google is famous for search. The Sparks function allows the user to enter a search queery in the same way you would normally, and results are delivered in the way they usually are. However, Google+ also provides the function of Google+1 (similar to the Facebook like button) meaning that your friends on Google+ are able to see recommendations from friends, should they search for similar topics online.
Chat: Google+ also provides a chat feature with a difference. Users are able to group friends into separate ‘rooms’ allowing for conversations with multiple people at the same time.
So could this be the end for Facebook? Well we will have to wait and see. With Facebook ‘fatigue’ on the rise and privacy concerns at an all time high, this might just be the perfect time for a platform such as Google+. At this time Google are rolling out its platform in controlled numbers while testing continues. A full global roll out is expected very soon.
